Wayanad Art Cloud Drawing Camp

Wayanad Art Cloud and Uravu Eco Links organised a two-day drawing camp that brought together a diverse group of artists. Held at the Uravu Bamboo Grove Resort in Thrikipetta, the event featured contributions from the following artists: Deepa KP, Jayesh K, Jithin T Joy, Joseph Varghese, Praseetha Biju, Rajesh Anchilan, Ramesh MR, Sadanandan EC, Shammi N, Sudheesh Pallisery, Suresh KB, Vijini Domic and Vinod Kumar. This was the third camp organised by the Wayanad Art Cloud. It not only provided a platform for artistic expression but also helped to shape the future plans of the organisation.

Second edition of Dreams Beyond the Forest starts…

Following the art gallery of Mananthavadi Lalithakala Academy, Uravu Bamboo Grove is hosting an exhibition called “Dreams Beyond the Forest” that showcases paintings and sculptures by 13 artists. The exhibition was inaugurated by Yasmin Kidwai, Documentary film maker. Adv. T. Siddique MLA, Kalpetta delivered the keynote speech. Corinne Karlaganis( Head of Tourism, Uravu Eco Links), EC Sadanandan ( artist), Sreeju,Ward member Sreeju also gave their words at the occasion.

The artists who are displaying their works are:

Arun VC, Bineesh Narayanan, Chitra Elizabeth, Deepa KP, Georgekutty, Joseph M Varghese, Njanan, Praseetha Biju, Ramesh MR, EC Sadanandan, Sunny Mananthavadi, Suresh KB, Umesh AC, Vinod Kumar.

The cultural events are:

8 Dec-6 pm: Performance by Wayanad Nattukoottam Folk Band

10 December- 10-6 pm : Performance by Kbalam Music Band

17 December 6pm: Tribal songs and stories by Bindu Irulam

Journey of “Dreams Beyond the Forest” starts

The art gallery of Mananthavadi Lalithakala Academy is hosting an exhibition called “Dreams Beyond the Forest” that showcases paintings and sculptures by 13 artists. The exhibition was inaugurated by Oscar Jury Member PC Sanath, with Block Panchayat President Justin Baby as the chief guest. Representatives from Wayanad Art Cloud and Urav Eco Links (Joseph M Vargheese, EC Sadanandan, Deepa KP, Dhanya Indu) the organizers of the event, also spoke at the occasion. The exhibition attracted many art enthusiasts who admired the artistic expressions of the participants. The exhibition also featured cultural events such as ‘Unarv’, a panel discussion, and a mehfil. The exhibition will conclude at 6 p.m. today, and then move to Urav Bamboo Resort, Thrikipatta, where it will be open from 8th to 22nd.

2 Dec-5-6 pm: ‘Unarv’, an art evening by Sabarishan & Team

3 December- 4-5 pm : A panel discussion on the changing future sensibility in art, with Chandran TV (art critic) and WAC artists as panelists.

6 December 5-6pm: A musical performance by Sabarishan & Team

FIRST ART CAMP AT THE URAVU BAMBOO GROVE RESORT FROM 22 TO 24 DECEMBER 2018

For three days, from 22 to 24 December 2018, the three local artists K.P. Deepa, Praseetha Biju and E.C. Sadanand, gathered in the Uravu Bamboo Grove Resort.

From early morning until there was no longer enough light to see their paintbrushes, they worked, interacted, shared and studied their different styles. Members of the public were welcome to come and observe the artists during the creation process. At the end of the camp, the artworks were exhibited in the resort and are still exhibited in the reception area today. We had the opportunity to film and interview the artists during the art camp.

SECOND ART CAMP AT THE URAVU BAMBOO GROVE RESORT FROM 18 – 20 MAY 2019

From 18 to 20 May 2019, 14 local artists participated in an Art Camp in the Uravu Bamboo Grove Resort in Thrikkaipetta, Wayanad.

This event officially launched the formation of the new collective that aims to support local artists in the region: the Wayanad Art Cloud. The Art Camp was open to the public, to visit, see the artists at work and interact with them.

At the end of the Art Camp, on 20 May 2019 at 3:30 pm, an exhibition open to public took place in the Uravu Bamboo Grove Resort.

The artworks were afterwards exhibited for a week in the Uravu Eco Links office in Thrikkaipetta. People interested in art could admire the creations of the Art Camp and buy artworks.

“HADIKKA” – FIRST POST-LOCKDOWN PAINTING EXHIBITION IN KOZHIKODE

From 21 to 28 November 2020, the Kerala Lalitha Kala Akademi Art Gallery in Calicut re-opened its doors after eight months of lockdown. The exhibition showcased around 30 artworks of WAC artist Rameesh M.R. who is known for his unique style of work mixing line drawing and painting in equal measure and giving an insight into the Adivasi culture.

The event was opened on Saturday 21 November by artist K. Sudheesh Kumar and concluded on 28 November. It was a great success for a first exhibition after lockdown. The Wayanad Art Cloud is very proud to have one of its members doing the re-opening of the gallery.
