Kids’ Days of Colours: A Celebration of Creativity in Thrikkaipetta

Art has the power to open young minds to new perspectives, nurture creativity, and build confidence. With this belief, Wayanad Art Cloud and Uravu Eco Links came together to organize a two-day art and craft workshop for students of Government High School, Thrikkaipetta, on April 10 – 11. The initiative was part of our ongoing community outreach efforts aimed at engaging children through meaningful and imaginative activities.

Over the two days, the school campus transformed into a vibrant creative space. Children eagerly participated in sessions on sketching and colouring, tie and dye, and dry flower making. These hands-on activities allowed students to express themselves freely, many for the first time in such a setting.

The sessions were led by a dedicated team of facilitators: Sadanandan E.C., Deepa K.P., Vijini Dominick, and Praseetha Biju — artists and craftspersons who brought their expertise and enthusiasm into every interaction.

A total of 22 students took part in the workshop, and their enthusiasm was contagious. At Wayanad Art Cloud and Uravu Eco Links, we believe that such experiences plant seeds for long-term growth — not just in artistic skill, but in imagination, self-expression, and the joy of learning.

A Talk on Conceptual Art

The Wayanad Art Cloud team had the privilege of hosting a talk with Charlie Fox, a conceptual artist from the UK. Conceptual art is an art movement where the idea or concept behind the work takes precedence over traditional aesthetics and material concerns. It emerged in the 1960s and 1970s as a reaction against the commercialization of art and the emphasis on skill or craftsmanship. Instead of focusing on the final object, conceptual artists often use text, installations, photography, performance, or ephemeral materials to express their ideas.

Charlie shared his experiences working on a project involving a polluted river. `Made in the river` was the name of the project.  Get inspired by the infinity of the river Caravelle Ayagalades, they used art to aware the locales about the river pollution.

The discussion was attended by Sadanandan E.C., Joseph M. Varghese, Sudheesh Pallisery, Deepa K.P., Praseetha Biju,  Sivaraj T., Denny John, Pranav C. Hari, and Dhanya Indu.
